KENTHURST BASH II

Yes, I know it's hard to imagine that these... grown adults.... for want of a better description, have shaped the future of the nation! Not saying too much at the moment you say! Well.... here are Bernie and Janice.... still some life left in the old dog! Has to go in to hospital shortly for a hip op.

Rob and Tom seem to be enjoying the festivities for sure. We're hoping for a litter out of Tom's hat. If you're interested in a pup, drop me a line. First in best dressed!

Seeing we are also celebrating FOURTH OF JULY, we did some square dancing. Yep.... I think we're mostly over 60!! We were pleased there was no need for an ambulance call after all the hectic activities. Go Jock and Anne!

Lynn (with lovely hairpiece) and Sue get into the action. No rest for the wicked they say. The endorphins were really going for it for sure!!! A very happy bunch.

A couple of cow girls chat with Fay over lunch.

Van tries his hand at photography. Why shouldn't he, he's had a crack at just about everything else!

And then Mabel and Ethel joined us. Straight from Hawaii where they'd been holidaying after their super pay out. Didn't they have fun! So too did Graham and Gerd.

Trust Jock to be in the middle of everything. Mavis and Ethel are sure looking their age don't you think?

KENTHURST BASH I

Marion takes a break and has brekky as the weekend warms up. About 25 scheduled to be at the Kenthurst Bash this year. Thanks heaps Marion.

Two of the heavyweights - Graeme O'Brien and Denis Forsythe - relaxing early in the morning. Bit chilly in July!

Graeme, Julianne, Suzie and Nola at the brekky table.

This lass was definitely 1963-64 vintage. Can you recognise her? (You had to be there actually!)

Bernie and Sue enjoy some brekky.

Marion, Fay and Janice have a bit of a yack as they catch up on the goss. One of these ladies slept very well last night. Can you work out which one?

THANKS ROB

On a beautiful day in March, Rob Hughes (WWTC 1963-64) performed the marriage ceremony for our son Jeremy and his lovely new bride Julia. It was a top day and a fitting top event to help them celebrate the occasion. (Jeremy's parents also graduated in 1964 from Wagga Teachers College.)
In the photo. Fay, Jeremy, Julia, Rob, Grahame.
Rob makes an excellent marriage celebrant.

The venue was absolutely tops! I can recommend it. We could have a lot of fun there!

It was situated at Lilyvale in the Royal National Park, Sydney. Between Waterfall and Stanwell Tops. There are 2 houses on the property, with plenty of room inside and out. Accommodates about 24 people in beds, but room for caravans, avans and Winnies also.

Yeah, the grounds are great. That's the main house above. Verandahs on 3 sides!!!

This is the 2nd house. It's just been recently renovated and done very nicely. Roomy, airy and modern.

A great verandah all along the front. And around the right hand corner as we're looking at it.

The down side.... I haven't booked the place as yet!!! Maybe we'll chat about it in July at Kenthurst. Not in the loop, email me at keasty446 at gmail dot com

BIKE RIDE COMING UP

In May, Beth Robertson (wife of Barry Robbo), Graham Brown and myself will be cycling (a Bike for Bibles ride) from Niemur (don't worry if you've never heard of that) to Deni, Jerilderie, Lockhart, Wagga, Tumut, Cooma, Canberra, Goulburn, Mittagong, Heckenberg (that's near Liverpool.... don't worry if you haven't heard of that either!)

Our support crew will be Margaret Brown, Fay Keast and Barry Robbo. The trip is about 1,100 km. - 13 - 25 May. Really looking forward to it, providing I can get the body on track and recommence training. Currently I have a crook wrist and can't ride. Beth is out there in training.... good girl!! Barry is also training (as you can see.)

If you'd like to sponsor one of us, contact Grahame (or one of the others) - 0411 386 814 or email keasty446@gmail.com - ta.

Unfortunately this bloke doesn't look like he'll be able to join us for this ride. Maybe some other time.

ORANGE IN OCTOBER 2010

Greetings All!

Here is the first of the info emails about the WWTC Great Gathering at Orange.

It will be held on the Long Weekend in October, 2010. The dates are 1st, 2nd, 3rd October. PLEASE KEEP THIS WEEKEND FREE!! The more the merrier!!

Accommodation will be the priority as it is an extremely busy weekend, especially for weddings so rooms will book up quickly. I have taken temporary bookings at 3 places which are all within 3 Km of my place. There are also 2 Caravan Parks (Colour City Caravan Park and Canobolas Caravan Park) but they are further away.

1. The Templers Mill Motel, Byng St, attached to the Ex-services Club, that’s your regular type motel room, and cheaper than the de Russie, very central and an easy walk to everything. They have plenty of rooms for everyone to stay together, (3 family rooms, 6 executive and 4 standard, some interconnecting) and more available on enquiry.

2. The de Russie suites in Hill St and very nice. (1 x 3 bed, 5x 2 bed, 5x 1bed - some are interconnecting. Others available you could ask about.)

3. Melview Greens…. Cabins on the outskirts of town, Ploughman’s Lane, which could be a bit inconvenient, but great spot as they are straight across the road from the Wentworth golf club. (1x 2bd, 3x studio 1 king, 1 single in same room)

Check out on the web:

de Russie: www.derussiehotels.com

Templars Mill: www.oesc.com.au

Melview Greens: www.melviewgreens.com.au

When you book just ask for the WWTC booking (Judy James)

Russell or I will keep in touch with follow-up info sheets with planned activities, meals, any costs (apart from accommodation) and some other things you might like to do in your own time.

Cheers, Judy and Russell

LET’S MAKE THIS THE BEST YET!!

NEWS ON JAN SMART

Sorry about a few things:
1 Jim should have more clothes on
2 Photo was taken maybe a year ago
3 That I am actually giving you this update on Jan.
..........
..........
Fay and I called on Jan today. It was pretty special because their 3 daughters, Selina, Jenny and Emily were there when we called in at Selina's place in Gerringong.
Jan has finally been diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma. She goes in next week for treatment next week. Think her chemo treatment is 1 day per fortnight for about 14 weeks.
..........
We all wish Jan a speedy recovery. It'll obviously take a while, but they are quite positive and we both thought Jan was actually in good spirits. Go Smarties!!

THE CARNIVAL IS OVER

Thanks Smarty for putting Tumut on the trip. A lovely spot even though the days were pretty warm. Didn't stop us from having our usual cycle. Looks like a Gossips to me Julianne!

These ducks could well have been the camp executive the way they wandered about, checking up on everything and everybody. Unfortunately we didn't see the platypus which was in the river just near where Fay and I were camped. Others saw it a couple of times, but not our group.
Fitzpatricks, Hughes and Griffins all departed from Tumut for their homes, leaving the Keasts to wander on alone to Wombeyan Caves... the final stop.

But wait! There was company, in the form of Marion, Sue, Merv and Helen! Great. I had contacted Mario Biasutti earlier on and he and his wife Gerlinda came from Mittagong way and joined us for a memorable evening under the stars.

Yes, we did have some fun. Thanks to the cooks and the BBQ man Merv, we all ate very well. And everybody was happy to try Mario's reds that he brought along for the occasion. Since retirement, Mario has been getting right into the grape/wine business. He and GO'B will have to get together to compare notes. I didn't hear any complaints Mario which is a good sign. Thanks for coming out over that shocking road to join us for the evening.

I don't know how or when this exhibition occurred. Merv is amused. Surely they couldn't have done it AFTER the big brekkie on Tuesday morning!! Bacon and eggs and everything you've never thought about putting on at the same time. Just beautiful. As Li from Mao's Last Dancer would say....FANTASTIC!
Thanks to all for such a great van trip. It was really good fun. Would we do something like that again? I think so.
