A is for Armidale

Well, you've found it! You can't be all that bad on the puter after all. Well done.
The idea here is to post events that are going to happen and print reports on events that have happened. At the bottom of each post (story or report) there is the chance of you making a comment. This is handy as it is a way of communicating with other ex WWTC folk. Making a comment is real easy (though you mightn't have done it yet!) If you click on COMMENTS you will also be able to read other people's comments, which you might wish to comment on. Get it?
Thanks Jock, Gail, Russ and Lauren for your efforts in making A'dale happen.
I'd like to invite you to let us know what you thought of the weekend in Armidale, on 26, 27 and 28 January, 2007 (if you were there. I have the list if necessary!)
Any others who have found their way here, feel free to add your comment or tell us why you weren't in A'dale. And, see if you can match the following names to the photos above: Russ Warfield, Merv Smith, Graeme O'Brien & wife Suzi, Sue (Upton) King, Colin (Jock) Grant and Tom McKibbin. Cheers.

These mini-reunions of ours just get better and better. Congrats to Jock and Gail for organising a great weekend! Great company, good fun, lots of laughter and top food and wine! Made me feel 18 once again! I wonder if we can rent out a 10-12 bedroom holiday house for one of our future get-togethers?

Sounds like it was a good weekend. I'm sorry I missed it. Looks like there were quite a few old buggers there, though. (photo of self withheld for security reasons)

Great start to the Blog, Grahame!
Thank you to Colin and Gail for a top weekend. Very well organised, especially the tour.
Marion, agree about a house. The one we had at A'dale was beauty ..... enough lawn to play bocce under torch light at 12.30am (quietly)
Thanks again to everyone for a very happy and fun couple of days. Looking forward to the next get-together.

Yep, likewise. I enjoyed the two days although when you all look back at me it reminds me of an age I never thought I'd reach. Good fun, though. I think I got lucky as I ended up sharing house with Marion, Sue and her bloke Gaird [?]who taught the gurls how to beat the blokes at Bocce. I enjoyed discovering what you-all have been doing with your lives [how about Graeme being Group Captain of the Fireys around Singleon for decades!!]and came home full of admiration.
I'm certainly not complaining, as I thought the organisation and goodwill and tolerance and support from the organisers in general, and Jock in particular, was wunnerful....but an idea for a bit of a change of focus might be to have at least one of our social gatherings in a backyard [or something similar] where we do not have to deal with the gongs-on of the commercial world, the callow youth, and various interruptions. Maybe a Bar-B-Q with a keg? Does that expose my base upbringing?

Sorry we weren't able to be there to socialise with you all, but we were visiting our eldest son, Stephen, in Jakarta for the 2 weeks - you can see Steve's video/audio clip on todays' on-line version of The Australian, at http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/index/0,,2703,00.html
We agree with Marion's suggestion of a house with many bedrooms for a get-together, maybe in 12 months' time. When we visited Grahame & Fay at Cudmirra recently they suggested investigating some beachside bungalows in that area as a possibility. Don't know what happened with that, but we would be interested.
We've booked for the big Wagga Reunion weekend at the end of September, and hope to see all of you there.
Best wishes to all,
Janice & Bernie Fitzpatrick

Hi, all!

Good on yer Keastie for setting this up!

Just a quick update. Am still working as a Senior Lecturer at HKU, just extended my contract to September 2008. Getting a lot of chances to travel, have been to China several times for work: fascinating place but a little overwhelming. Shopping in the markets in Guangzhou is an unforgettable experience. Been to Nanking, but haven't been to Beijing or Shanghai yet, HKU tends to send me to the backwaters...

I live on an island called Lamma just southwest of Hong Kong Island. Anyone coming this way would be welcome, it would be a pleasure to take you around the fleshpots of HK, give me a call at 852-2982-1966 mobile 852-6109-0466.

Am still writing poetry and if anyone is bored enough to want to check out my poetic mumblings, I publish with an online UK group abctales.com under the names of scanners and scanners2. I was supposed to have another hard copy book out last year, but didn't work out, maybe this year.

Dave Baker may still be contactable through Scots College, as last I heard he was doing a teaching gig there - but that was some time ago.

Anyway, think this is a great idea, and will follow all the news with interest. Tried to attach pix but not working.

Take care, all!

Tony
