CHRISTMAS IN JUNE 08

I think Sue is trying to get your attention!!! Here are the details of the Christmas in June in Canberra. Thanks Gerd and Sue.

FRIDAY 20th June:
Day:Those who are here by lunchtime, meet at the race course for a roast lunch ($20 pp) or a sandwich and an afternoon of horse racing. Just hope we pick a winner like last time..........
Evening: Pizza, salad and Italian bread dinner at 7pm at the Kings, 21 Guilfoyle St Yarralumla. Cost per person $5. BYOG. Open fire.

SATURDAY 21st June:
Day: Breakfast where you are staying. Do your own thing until ...... about 11am, pick up by coach at your accommodation for an hour tour of Canberra and a trip to the Cotter Dam for a walk to the top of the dam and a BBQ lunch in the Cotter Reserve, returning to your accommodation at 3pm. Cost per person approx $25, includes lunch and coach (door to door so you can have a drink) BYOG.
NB: Ethel and Mavis have requested we allow time for a Nanna Nap before dinner.

Evening: 'Dinner at the Kings' at 7pm: 'German style' cooked by Sue and Gerd (pancake soup, roast pork, sauerkraut, home made noodles, etc plus apple and black forest cake for dessert)
Open fire will be raging; beer drinking songs may be sung and yodelling will be encouraged, as will short trousers with braces and hair in plaits; gluehwein and schnapps will be on offer; waltzes and polkas may be danced ....... BYOG

SUNDAY 22nd June:
Day: Everyone meets for 'Bocce and Breakfast' at the Kings at about 9.30am. BYO eggs, bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms etc with toast, vegemite, jam, tea and coffee supplied. At 12 noon, depart from the Yacht Club (only down the road) for a 2 and a half hour lunch cruise on Lake Burley Griffin, cost per person $55. Drinks extra.
Afternoon cuppa at the Kings before you depart. Toasted sandwiches for those staying over on Sunday night?

Accommodation:
Motel: Cheap accommodation at the Embassy Motel, Hopetoun Circuit, Deakin, about 250 yds from Kings (Internet: Wotif and Accom Line for good cheap deals or directly to the hotel for $99pn). You can walk home from our house.

Caravan Parks: Canberra Motor Village, O'Connor (02) 6247 5466, about 15 mins north of Kings
Canberra South Motor Park (02) 6280 6176, Fyshwick, about 15 mins south of Kings
Nature strip: Right there! Can fit about 4 Avans and a motor home, with extension cords from our house for power and heating. (1 spot left)
Double bed room: 1 couple (BOOKED OUT)
2 singles bed room: 2 singles or 1 couple (BOOKED OUT)
Billiard room: 2 singles or 1 couple
Back lawn: 1 tent (she must be dreamin'!)

PS Merv Smith has been in hospital. Following an op they were not happy with how the wound wasn't healing... so, Merv.... you can stay a bit longer!!
PPS Just spoke with Helen (Monday arvo).... her man is starting to improve (thank goodness she says) and is hoping to be home in a couple of days.
