CAMP 64 ENTERTAINMENT

One of the highlights was the bonfire (once again). It was every bit as good as the one 2 years ago.

"Ken Howard" in his BVDs and drinking Shelleys Lemonade, called a race for us. I think Fanny and Mozza (horses) were up near the front when the race finished. Thanks Dino.

Ethel and Mavis aren't getting any younger, and an aging wheelchair had to be employed on this occasion. They entertained with their usual flair. Well done... again.

Graeme and Doug led the chainsaw gang. Lynn and Dino were always on hand and Bernie even finisbhed up on the roof (doing a needed sweep of leaves there.) Gra Wright did a bunch of whipper snipping which was a bonus. There's still a heap of timber here if you need some. Contact Marion.

An excellent rendition of The Man From Snowy River was delivered by Rob Hughes - who spends a bit of time these days as a Marriage Celebrant.

Relaxing as usual was the Giles team - David and Lynne (Lyn/Lynn?) They're busy nowadays building as one of their offspring is returning home I believe. Might get him to come down to Cudmirrah!

Graeme O'Brien chats up Anne McKibbin. Porbably explaining the difference between speering and whizzing, Anne was voted Rookie of the Year. It was her first appearance with the mob. Wonder whether she'll return?

Merv studying the various heritage listed material on show. He and Helen are hoping to get to WA later this year.

And here's everyone else! Enjoying a great lunch presented by outside caterers. A great move. Tucker was great, supplemented of course by local donations.

Sue and Gerd King chat with Graham Wright.

Here's the O'Brien style on the chainsaw. Well done mate. Maybe a better effort than some of the Aussies in whites appeared to give at Lords yesterday.

All in all a great time was had by all. Congrats also to Jan and Jim Smart who are in Townsville spending time with Jade Elizabeth - their daughter Emily's first child.
If you need any chainsaw work done contact Ludwig or O'Brien.
Thanks Graeme O'B and Marion for some of the photos.
If you've got one you want to shove here, email it to me, with a note/story. Good onya.

CAMP 64 - FALL IN

We sure warmed up the PEE an NOLA on Fri night. Everyone was in good voice.

Of course Judy and GOB had some serious chat to air...

...and Fay and Lucy shared a bit of info too.

Meanwhile I managed to snavel a few spare ladies who were enjoying themselves.... before I came along.

The men had time to talk travel tales as Van shared his tripping and Rob his extended (thirteen?) trips to just about everywhere.

Marion, as matriarch, read some clippings from the Wagga paper some 45 years ago. Even Fay had never heard about the honour system. Suzie looks on intrigued. There were recollections of whole dormitories being "gaited" for the weekend. I didn't remember that bit

It was initially a bit difficult to find a spot to sleep.... even in one's own avan!! One thing they taught us at college.... always be ready!!! Certainly handy information.
Looking forward to more collambience today as Semples, McKibbins, Lamberts, Smiths and others arrive.

EX-STUDENT HONOURED

Fay and I spent a few days at Deniliquin in the western Riverina. Good to be out in the "flat country" once again. We were in Deni for the Number Plate Collectors Club meeting.

We had a lovely dinner with Bob and June Armytage (pictured above) who've lived in Deni for about a hundred years. What a chef that Bob is! I'm envious!

June (was June Alden) was honoured by the Conargo community recently. They have named their library after her (see above photos). There was a write-up in the local newspaper and then Fay and I called in at Conargo (about 30 km from Deni) and took these photos. Congratulations June.

The Armytages are on the move in the days ahead - a 4WD trip in July, followed by a trip to China in November and then a trip to Japan in 2010. One of their kids is living in Japan so that was the attraction there.

So, who was in their section: (I'm guessing) - Bailey, Edwards, Ashmore, Baker, Davy, Armytage, Alden... who else?
Meanwhile, we're looking forward to CAMP 64 on 18 July at Marion's (Kenthurst). See you there.

CAUGHT UP WITH A FEW

Had a visit yesterday here in our new house at Cudmirrah (Sussex Inlet). None other than Rob Hughes. It was good to have him spend a bit of time with us.
Recently caught up with John and Joy (Diehm) Griffin at an avan gathering at Coffs earlier this month. Maybe other avanners like O'Briens, Smarts and Fitzpatricks will join our gathering in 2010.
Called in to see Jan and Jim Smart for a cuppa at Bomaderry (Nowra). Forunately Jim had just caught a few fish so we left with a couple of Blackfish. They are well and have just returned from a cruise (yes, another one!)
Had brekky with Barry and Beth Robertson at Pelican in Sussex.
Good to hear an extensive report from Gerard Say on his trip to the Centre and up to Darwin.
Drop me a note and let me know what you've been up to.

COUPLE OF OLD STARS

What do these two blokes have in common? Quite a bit actually.
Clue 1: They both went to WWTC in 1962.
Clue 2: Check out the top bloke's second finger!
OK, who are they? What did they have in common?
Click on comments below and put in your two bobs' worth.

GOOD FOOD AND WINE

What a great place to have good food and good wine! The Hunter!
Our gathering was extremely successul (as usual) with about 20 folk present. Some drank wine and some...... yep, you guessed it.....

Sat night was beef and burgundy! Gorgeous! Graeme & Susi did a great job. This meal took place out in the paddock... in amongst the cowpats! Gramma pie and ice cream! To die for! More photos in a few days.

Brunch Sunday and GOB was on fire again! Thanks mate! Sorry we couldn't stay to help you finish the paving. He was certainly in line for man of the match when we left!

It's always good when it's the hostess who spills the red wine!! She still looks beautiful. Helen looks on admiringly.

Some of the team on a garden tour on Saturday morning. A very pleasant way to spend a morning - checking out beautiful gardens in the Hunter valley. Thanks Pam Wright.

This was one of my favourites. What is its name Graham? Would it grow in Cudmirrah?

More collambience opportunity. Can you pick out the players?

Merv and Bernie admire the arrangements of the furniture for Saturday night.

" We could perhaps put a few roses just over near that tree," advised the rose connoisseur, Graham W.
