DAVE BAKER PERFORMS IN NEWCASTLE

There's no doubt that the 1963-64 session of WWTC certainly nurtured some talented people. David Baker must be included in this number.

You might remember him as the quirky cartoonist, De Bak, for the 1964 'Talkabout' publications!
After leaving college, Dave went on to study art and music, and established himself as a notable artist and a talented musician.
During the last few years, Dave has written and produced a number of Radio Plays for Cabaret and has performed at various venues with his band 'The Smokin' Chops'.
His most recent production "Boulevard of Blood and Dreams" was performed in Newcastle during October this year . It received rave reviews from the local Newcastle newspapers.
A small group of ex 63/64 WWTC-ites were in attendance at the final show. There have been WWTC-ites at previous shows too.
Bob and Colleen Cureton, David and Lyn Giles, Doug and Lucie Walker, Sue King, Judy James and Marion Giddy ... All had a fabulous weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the show!

Congratulations De Bak!!

MUDGEE MUSTER AT HALFWAY MARK

Thanks Nola and Dino for arranging the Mudgee Muster. So far so good!

Visited about 4 (or was it 5?) wineries on Saturday.
 Tasted heaps.... bought plenty!

PSBMWWTCers (Poor Silly Buggers that Married WWTCers)
Susanna O'Brien and Gerd King served by popular Phoenix.

But there were nibbles and discussions and...

Maybe Rob Cureton (and Colleen) had had enough
but they still looked interested!

John at Mudgee Wines was a font of knowledge,
and we were ready to listen and learn.

There were even times when our glasses were empty!

Here Helen Smith tries out her croquet skills.

"When's lunch?" cries out one hungry camper.

But there always seemed to be plenty to eat.

Some argey-bargey on the croquet field.
Lucy Walker being creative after lunch.

The troops are clearly wearing out...one by one.

Just remembered! We have to gather again at 6 pm!! Bye!

SOME 1964 PHOTOS

So, can you recognise any of these girls from 49 years ago? Maybe you whizzed one of them??

This photo is of a dem lesson at Lake Albert. Wonder who the "teacher" is?

Here, on Open Day in 1964, there is a pottery demonstration.

Is that John Hargreaves in the background? The play is OUR TOWN. This one was in 1963. Who else is in the photo?

WHITE WATER RAFTING IN NZ

The Fitzpatricks and the Keasts had a great time in NZ in August, staying at a lodge in Turangi on the southern side of Lake Taupo. We're talking middle of the North Island.

One of the highlights was a dabble into white water rafting. Just excellent fun.

It was about this stage that Janice inquired, "Are we gonna go through some white water?"

Yep! For sure.... in fact 64 rapids in total in a 2 km journey. Mind you it took us a couple of hours to do the ride. Just FANTASTIC! All enjoyed the experience, although Fay's knee took several days to recover afterwards.

Thank you TONGARIRO RIVER RAFTING. Only one to get drenched was Bernie who actually took a dive (plunge?) from an elevated rock (on purpose.) Bit too cold for this little black duck.

SOME SAD NEWS

I have just heard that Doug and Lucie Walker's 39 year old son, David, died unexpectedly on Friday. He was intellectually handicapped.
Doug went through college in 1963-64. The Walkers have been attending many of the WWTC gatherings over the last decade (my guess.) At Marion's place at Kenthurst, they always brought David who felt comfortable with the old WWTC bunch. Our thoughts go out to them at this very special time.
ffff
Another recent death (December last year) was that of Jackie [Ames] Rohan. Jackie graduated in 1965. She roomed with Jean [Parmenter] Crouch. Jean married Dick Crouch from Tumut and Jackie married another Wagga Ag boy, Pete Rohan. Interestingly Jackie taught with me at Orange Public back in the 60s and Jean was on staff with me at Cooma Public in 80s or maybe 90s.

Dick and Jean (shown here with me) currently own COASTAL CURTAINS in Ulladulla. They will be at our place shortly to replace a bunch of our old blinds (I accidentally typed blonds at first!!!)
fff
I'll post some photos including ones of our ex WWTC gathering here in Sussex Inlet/Cudmirrah. There were 8 ex WWTC folk (plus a few hangers-on). Showed we still know how to party... at least till 10 pm anyway!

Canoeing was just one of the selected activities. Pictured are: Libby (Jim Smart's sister), Dale GK, Joy and Beth (Barry Robbo's wife.) After a 2 hour paddle, 2 people fell into the water getting out of their canoes...can you see who looks the wettest? Thanks for arranging the canoeing Beth.
